The Origin of Great Taste
In 1953, Les
Highet and Irma Hueneke founded the Original Pancake House in Portland,
Oregon. Since then, their restaurant has won world wide
acclaim.
In Paris, the Original Pancake House
was selected by James Beard as one of the ten best restaurants in the world. In
1956, the Original Pancake House also won the McCall Citation for excellence in
the Preparation and Presentation of Food.
Our
Standards
These are a few of the standards of
quality maintained in our original house:
- We serve freshly
squeezed orange juice
- Only butter (93 score)
used for cooking
- Pure whipping cream
(36%) used in our batters and coffee
- We blend our own coffee
to give you full-bodied, winey true coffee flavor
- We use only farm-fresh
extra-large white Grade AA eggs
- Old fashioned dry-cured
hams and bacons used
- No prepared batter
mixes of any kind used
- We use unbleached, hard wheat
flour
